The Sunday Spread: November 26, 2023

Hi there. How are you?

Welcome back to the Sunday Spread. Each week I give you a glimpse into my sketchbook and drawing practice. Posted most Sundays.

I hope that you had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday (if you celebrate). Did you find time to relax and enjoy?

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house, so the first half of the week was a blur, and left no time for drawing. But the 3 days after Thanksgiving have been the best! I can’t tell you how much I needed this break from work and my everyday schedule.

My Lone Spread of the Week

I didn’t touch my sketchbook until Friday. As usual, I drew from the couch while watching a mix of sports and Netflix. I picked up my blue Parker pen for the first time in a while.

I’m continuing to explore braid like forms. I worked on the middle braid section first, and then got distracted and bored and started adding the rainbows. I like the negative space that the rainbows provide, but I’ll have to do some more work to integrate them into the composition.

I’ll continue working on this one, mostly likely filling the page. I’ll be sure to share the finished spread next week! As I’m working in my pocket sized Moleskine that’s just 3” x 5” and I’ve got a whole Sunday ahead of me, I think I can finish this drawing before I get bored with it.

That’s All For Now

I thought it time that Cleo get the blog spotlight. She’s sitting next to me right now as I type, perched atop her favorite blanket.

She’s looking longingly out the window, dreaming of being outside. Even though it’s currently snowing and she’ll run right back inside once she felt the wet snow on her paw!

Ciao, Jen
