Sketchbook Tour - 2022
Hi there. How are you?
There’s less time in my life for a studio practice these days, but I still try to make time every week for my sketchbook. It’s meditative and relaxing and it keeps my skills sharp.
All of the drawings in this post were made in a Moleskine sketchbook. The paper is thick, the binding is strong, and the pages are just the right size. The majority of my sketching in 2022 was done with my Parker pens, in blue or black ink. It’s been my favorite for years now. (Read my Parker pen review here.) I did dabble with color now and again, and picked up my Bic Crystals for a few sketches. They come in a huge array of colors now, including yellow and gold!
In 2022, I completed 20 sketchbook drawings, most of which were done while I sit on the couch in the evenings watching TV. When the weather is nice, I spend less time on my couch, so most of these drawings were made in the colder months.
I’ve got my drawings arranged here in chronological order so you can see how my style and imagery shifts over time. Floral shapes often find their way into my compositions, as do braided forms.
You’ll see my cat Cleo made an appearance in a couple of these photos. I often lay my sketchbook on the floor to photograph a completed spread and as soon as she sees it, she’s interested.

Onto 2023
I’m not making any resolutions or grand plans for my art or life in the new year. I plan to be kind to myself and others and make time for art when I can.
That’s all for now.
Ciao, Jen
